What’s it like to be a winner? Just ask anyone who lives on Amelia Island and in Fernandina Beach. Both the island and the city’s downtown have recently garnered prestigious awards in competition with national and state peers.The island as a whole just won a Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Award as a top 10 U.S. island destination, with three local resorts voted into the top 25 in the state.According to a news release from the magazine, “Northeast Florida’s Amelia Island has placed among the top 10 U.S. islands in the 2015 Conde Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards.
