On South Florida’s visual arts scene this week, news of a family program at the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU, an exhibition from the collection of a late El Nuevo Herald journalist, and a reception marking the opening of an exhibition of the work of Salvadorian painter Benjamin Cañas.▪ The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU is hosting a special program encouraging families to experience Shabbat in conjunction with the exhibition “The Seventh Day: Revisiting Shabbat,” on view through Oct. 25. The event from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday includes do-it-yourself stations to create Shabbat candles, candlesticks, challah covers and more from recycled and repurposed materials, as well as museum tours by teen docents.
