Oceanfront restaurant Sea Watch in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea plans to reopen soon after weeks of renovation.

Beth Tannar, Sea Watch’ general manager, hopes to have the restaurant open for business again by this weekend, though she said it all depends on when the work is completed. The seafood restaurant is at 6002 N. Ocean Blvd.Upgrades began Sept. 20 and include the installation of new kitchen equipment, new carpeting, refinished wood floors and a resurfaced parking lot, Tannar said.

The improvements “won’t be real obvious” to people unless they were paying attention to wood floors looking worn, Tannar said. Sea Watch underwent major renovations about five years ago when operators removed the Old Florida décor for a more updated look, she said.

Sea Watch has been a South Florida institution since 1974, offering front-seat views of the Atlantic Ocean for diners, wedding parties and corporate events.
