Golden retrievers rescued from Istanbul, Turkey, as well as dogs and cats fleeing flooding threats in Mississippi all made their way to Palm Beach County animal hospitals on Monday.

The 18 golden retrievers took a 48-hour, three-continent journey from a part of the world where a crisis over how to handle human refugees didn’t stop these dogs from getting to South Florida, thanks to a Boynton Beach rescue group.
