The National Audubon Society’s annual Christmas bird count is underway.The Miami Herald reports (http://hrld.us/1Nxo7w9 ) the planet’s longest-running wildlife census begins locally this weekend in Miami, stretching from Coconut Grove to North Miami Beach and west to Hialeah.

Counts will be held from the Florida Keys to Fort Pierce during the first week of January.
