After transporting New York City’s sewage sludge since the 1960s, the 300-foot tanker ship Newtown Creek will arrive an unusual final resting place: The ocean floor off Pompano Beach.The city is buying the ship from New York for $100,000 and will scuttle it off the coast, where it will join the weird collection of sunken ships, hunks of steel, tires and other junk used to make South Florida’s nearly 400 artificial reefs.
