The 1950s was a particularly rich decade for the arts in South Florida, especially in Miami Beach, which was not only a magnet for tourists but also for singers, poets and painters who put their individual imprints on the area.

In its years of splendor, Miami Beach and the neighborhoods branching north along Collins Avenue filled up with hotels, motels, restaurants and bars displaying all the glitter of a golden age.
