Located literally feet from the water and docked boats on the edge of downtown, the new Mama Foo Foo restaurant enjoys as good a visual location as any eatery in Volusia and Flagler counties. Three months after opening, Mama Foo Foo’s plan — besides good food — is to offer “more than just dinner” to its customers. The restaurant’s location at Halifax Harbor Marina on 125 Basin St. had been vacant for approximately five years. Tucked inside the yacht basin, it had been the location of the Blue Grotto restaurant. Michael Tipps, owner of Mama Foo Foo, is also co-founder of a Los Angeles-based hospitality consulting company called Invictus Hospitality. The idea, according to Tipps, is “to bring big city concepts to rural, suburban areas.”
