When the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida launches its new season next month, it enters a new act. One without the founding leader who built the ensemble into a regional musical powerhouse, drawing praise and respect for its repertoire.Under Gordon Roberts, the chorus fostered partnerships with mainstream arts groups and grew into one of the largest gay choruses nationwide.

The back story of the group, however, is the stuff of a South Florida opera.
