I’m writing from underneath a giant beach umbrella at Daytona Beach, Florida. Because the forecast called for rain this afternoon, our family has been aggressively digging holes in the white sand since 6:45 a.m., determined to feel official vacation sand between our toes before the clouds steal away the coveted sunshine. I fully expect we will be so dang tired from building sand castles, picking up shells and boogie boarding that we will all pass out and burn like bacon in an hour.
