The first time Joyce Moreno played at a music festival, 50,000 people booed. It was 1967, and the Brazilian singer-songwriter was making her debut at II Festival Internacional da Canção in Rio de Janeiro.She had barely finished singing the words, “I’ve been told that my man doesn’t love me” when the audience began shouting. They objected to a woman singing a song with a female point of view.
