Jax Beer Week typically has been a loosely organized collection of tastings, beer-pairing dinners and other events to celebrate the growth of craft brewing in the Jacksonville area. After all, these are beer people. Things tend to be laid-back and casual.Now in its fourth year, the Nov. 7-14 event is being steered by the Jax Beer Society, and while the schedule is still a bit in flux, there are anchors on each end and quite a bit of stuff in between.The kickoff will be a “Mash In” party Nov. 7 featuring all eight Jacksonville craft breweries, live music, food trucks and games at Engine 15 Brewing’s downtown production brewery. The Mash In will run from 1 to 4 p.m. at the 601 Myrtle Ave. brewery. General admission tickets are $35; VIP tickets are $55 and include entry an hour early, lunch and access to special beers — and private restrooms.
