Q: What is the city of Fort Lauderdale doing on the northern end of A1A? Trees lining the middle of the roadway have been removed. Why widen this road and destroy all the beautiful greenery?
A: A1A is not being widened and the landscaping will be replaced with something even bolder. The Florida Department of Transportation is adding a 1.5-foot buffer between the bike lanes and A1A’s outside travel lanes from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Avenue near the Lauderdale-by-the-Sea border.
