In a black-box theater not far from bustling Atlantic Avenue, colorful notes arose from a group of swaying teens who jazzed up the place. Each Saturday, several young musicians gather at the Arts Garage in Delray Beach for a three-hour-long jazz session. They form a combo calling themselves The Bridge Project, a new pilot program that began this month in an effort to spread jazz appreciation among a younger generation. For Michael Santos, a freshman at West Boca High, it was an opportunity to improve his playing that he couldn’t pass up, he said. The 15-year-old bassist joined the group for the first time Saturday. “I felt a little bit out of my league. They have years of experience above me,” he said, of his peers. “Toward the end, I started feeling better and feeling the music. I was able to keep up, not to the level I’d like to be at, but it worked.”
