What began as an idea to have an annual surf contest to fund support for the history and preservation of East Coast Surfing has become an event that has since become a part of history itself. This weekend the 16th annual Waterman’s Challenge — set for June 4 and 5 at the International Palms Resort in Cocoa Beach — will again offer participants of all ages an opportunity to compete in more than 25 (all amateur) individual and group divisions. The event is appropriately named because of the combination and diversification of board and watercraft riding events.
