One of the most magical things about living on the Space Coast is our proximity to water. The Indian River Lagoon and the ocean are rarely more than 20 minutes away, no matter where you are in the county.Though many of the barrier islands along Brevard’s coast are narrow enough to see the river and ocean from a high point in the middle, few trails connect you with both. One of the exceptions is Coconut Point Preserve in Melbourne Beach. This ¾ mile trail leads hikers and trail runners from a beach access via Juan Ponce de Leon Landing, a public beach access park in Melbourne Beach, all the way to the Indian River Lagoon.
