Leonora and Turpac, the Space Coast’s satellite transmitter-equipped Tour de Turtles competitors, have combined to swim 11 miles along the barrier island since their Sunday morning releases from the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge. Researchers with the Sea Turtle Conservancy turned the nesting female loggerheads loose from wooden corrals near Bonsteel Park.
