While the rest of the country celebrates National Rum Day—Sunday, August 16—with Mai Tai’s, Daiquiris, and Rum Runners, we here in South Florida already know the deal: it’s always rum day in the land of eternal sunshine. After all, South Florida is the gateway for all those molasses-made spirits streaming from the Caribbean. Yet, to mark the occasion, we’re stepping away from rum’s island roots and looking inward at the fantastic rum being produced right here within the state, with recipes of course.
