Hollywood’s monthly Beach Sweep program is living up to its name. The program, part of the Keep Hollywood Beautiful initiative, is focused on resident participation to keep the beach free of litter and cigarette butts.”The long-term goal is to really educate visitors and residents on what washes up on the shore and what is thrown on our beaches. You’ll see volunteers come out with their children, and we want to pass along how much litter and debris can be accumulated on the beach,” said Charles Lassiter, the city’s environmental services supervisor. The cleanup is done from 7 to 11 a.m. the second Saturday of the month, starting from Charnow Park, at Garfield Street and A1A.
