Few right whales have been seen this winter, but the teams that fly aerial surveys to search for them off Florida’s east coast have spotted plenty of other big creatures. They’ve seen a good number of humpback whales, which can weigh more than 30 tons and grow to more than 40 feet long. They’ve snapped photos of a whale shark, the largest fish in the sea, off Flagler Beach. They’ve spotted a great white shark off Ormond Beach. They’ve seen giant manta rays six miles east of Ponce Inlet.
