Earlier this month, work led by St. Augustine city archaeologist Carl Halbirt had already uncovered human bone fragments under Charlotte Street. This week, the latest dig led to the discovery of several partial graves under the road.

All of the remains are believed to be centuries old and connected to the Los Remedios church. Halbirt said more archaeological deposits related to St. Augustine’s early downtown settlement could be found in other test digs planned farther south on Charlotte Street.
