There was a time when the sweet sounds of jazz filled dance halls and homes in St. Augustine. The old city reared musicians known around the world. Big names stopped in on the chitlin circuit; clubs, theaters and venues where black entertainers were allowed to perform. They were meager accommodations that housed legendary music. The Lincolnville Museum now holds those memories. They’re memories held fondly by musician Doug Carn If you’re into Jazz you likely know the multi-instrumentalist, all about his skills on the organ and piano. Carn, now internationally known grew up in a section of St. Augustine where five generations of his family dwelled, the Lincolnville area. Where he learned to appreciate fine music.
