This weekend, nearly every room inside the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale will be splashed with masterworks, all made by New York abstract-art champion Frank Stella. Filling almost every gallery on both floors, the ambitious solo show “Experiment and Change” will capture Stella’s 60-year odyssey of vivid experimentation, from early geography-inspired and color-gradient paintings through his current wiry, lightweight sculptures. Stella rose through New York’s art circles in the late 1950s and often rejected the abstract works of his contemporaries. He infused his paintings with references to literature, music, zoology and architecture.
