The Ritter Art Gallery at Florida Atlantic University is hosting “New Art: South Florida Cultural Consortium Visual and Media Artists Fellowship Exhibition” through Nov. 7. The show also runs through Oct. 31 in the Schmidt Center Gallery.

“New Art” presents the recent works of 12 artists from the state’s five southeastern counties. They won grants, ranging from $7,500 to $15,000, from consortium. Works were selected based on each artist’s practice, while also bringing attention to relevant issues in contemporary art.

Brookhart Jonquil’s “In a Perfect World (III)” is on display at FAU.Also, in the Schmidt Center Gallery, Aleister Eaves, a Monroe County artist and writer, will recreate her childhood bedroom. Viewers will experience the space the same way she did, many years ago.

Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. Exhibits are free and open to the public.FAU is at 777 Glades Road. 561-297-2661; www.fau.edu/galleries
